Full-text (Databases and search)

The full text databases contain the worldwide collection of published applications that have the description and/or claims in English, French or German:

  • Worldwide EN – collection of published applications in English offers full text search in English for all documents published in English which are available in full text (description and claims) from the Worldwide database.
  • Worldwide FR – collection des demandes publiées en Français offers full text search in French for all documents published in French which are available in full text (description and claims) ̀ from the Worldwide database.
  • Worldwide DE – Sammlung veröffentlicher Anmeldungen auf Deutsch offers full-text searching in German for all documents published in German which are available in full text (description and claims) from the worldwide database.

The former EP and WIPO databases have been merged into the full text databases.

Searching in the full-text databases

In Advanced search choose one of the above full-text databases from the dropdown menu Select the collection you want to search in .

Begin your search by entering search criteria in one or more of the fields. Keywords should be entered in the language of the database you selected.

Important! To retrieve a result in the full-text databases, you must enter at least one keyword in the keyword search field, otherwise an error message will appear.

In Smart search, enter one or more keywords as usual, then click Refine search at the top of the Result list to access the full-text databases.

You can use the following field identifiers for your search:

ftxt = to search full text in the description and claims

desc = to search full text in the description

claims = to search full text in the claims

When a search is triggered the search machine searches for all documents in that database containing those exact keywords. The keywords entered are highlighted within the text.

Note: Keywords are searched in the description and claims only when searching in the full text databases. To search for keywords in the title and abstract, the Worldwide database must be used.
